ITEC is proud to offer quality medical and surgical eye care by some of the most experienced eyecare professionals in Central Alabama. The components of a medical eye exam vary depending on your age, the date of your last exam, your family medical history and other factors.

Pediatric Eye Care
ITEC doctors welcome patients of all ages. The American Academy of Ophthalmology suggests children with seemingly normal vision have their first eye exam by age four. Although most children have no eye problems, many ocular conditions may go unnoticed by the family. ITEC doctors routinely treat children with nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, “crossed eyes” (strabismus), “lazy eyes” (amblyopia), blocked tear ducts, and other conditions. The doctors and staff at ITEC are comfortable treating newborns to teenagers and do their best to make a child’s visit to the doctor’s office easy and fun. The Carmichael Optical Shoppe has a wide variety of children’s frames and other items to help make your child’s vision the best it can be.
Treatment of Eye Diseases
In recent years, advances in medical eye care have made it possible for cataract surgery to be performed on an outpatient basis. According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, 95% of patients who undergo cataract surgery have much improved vision. By using new treatment that allows quicker return to normal activities, we often hear patients say "Seeing is believing".
From pink eye to skin cancer of the lids, ITEC offers comprehensive medical and surgical care for a multitude of eye diseases varying from red eyes, contact lens problems, foreign bodies, trauma, etc.
Contact Lenses
ITEC offers a full service contact lens department. It is very important that a contact lens be custom fit to your eye. ITEC offers specialty lenses for medical problems as well.

The Optical Shoppe
Located inside ITEC, the Optical Shoppe is open from 8:00 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in Montgomery and from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday in Wetumpka. Carmichael Optical Shoppe has hundreds of stylish frames from which to choose. Our staff will assist you in making the right choice for your needs. Prices are competitive and service is second to none.
You will find a large selection of the latest frame styles for your family. Each frame line was chosen carefully to provide you with different design styles, materials and color. We have added several new lines that we feel provide the best quality and value available. Every effort was made to offer quality frames at a price to fit your budget.
